As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact all African Union (AU) Member States, Vodafone and Vodacom are committed to supporting African society during and after this period of profound uncertainty. As a provider of critical communication and technology services that enables a digital society, we also support our communities through accelerating support to critical government functions.

Our Mezzanine digital solutions “toolbox” helps governments across multiple industries and domains, including healthcare. A number of Mezzanine’s digital health solutions are already successfully used by six AU member states in their response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

By providing access to a proven portfolio of digital health solutions, Vodacom also directly assists AU member states in their management of COVID-19 vaccine programmes, similar to how the South African National Department of Health’s COVID-19 Electronic Vaccine Data System (EVDS) has benefited from using several of Mezzanine’s digital tools.

The Mezzanine digital toolbox will help AU member states to effectively manage their COVID-19 vaccine delivery programmes, and post-pandemic, can be used to support broader public health system strengthening initiatives, including child immunization programmes  and the delivery of essential medicines.

Importantly, the toolbox is available across third party mobile (GSM) networks, aligned with the African Union’s equity principle and prioritisation of digital transformation.
